MXC Thrive Life Skills and Fitness Boot Camp
MXC Thrive took place in July and August 2019. This was Maximizing Character's first grant funded youth violence prevention program thanks to the Hampton City Office of Youth and Young Adult Opportunities who sponsored the summer camp for male residents ages 11-17.

The life skills and fitness boot camp featured valuable life skills activities and guest speakers from the Hampton Roads community each Monday evening as well as a fitness component each Saturday led by a certified personal trainer. MXC Thrive activities took place at Fort Monroe Community Center located at the beautiful Fort Monroe, a National Historic Landmark in Hampton, Virginia.
2019 Family Learning Project Event at the Virginia Air and Space Center - May 7, 2019

Peace Paint Party
To culminate National Youth Violence Prevention Week (April 8-12, 2019), Maximizing Character hosted a Peace Paint Party on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 2 PM to 4 PM. This fun and enlightening event gave youth and families an opportunity to spread peace, not violence through art.

PROJECT 2 - Character Couture

Character Couture is defined as an outward symbol of one’s inward qualities. The term, coined and defined by members of the MC board of directors, also functions as a reminder to maximize one's inner strengths and character values. Since 2015 Maximizing Character has hosted its Annual Character Couture Youth Fashion Show in order to promote good character amongst youth in a fun way. What better way to reach the youth with a worthy cause than by using something that they love...FASHION! This unique annual event features character values, colors, fashion, entertainment, music and lots of fun.
Character Couture is also a year-round character education program. Participants learn about important life skills and values during meetings and rehearsals and engage in fun activities like skating and bowling for team building. If you, or someone you know, is interested in modeling, volunteering or donating goods and services to the program or annual fashion show please contact us!
